Faces of Florida

Presenters are encouraged to speak about the people, places and history of Florida.
Note: This year's theme also encourages submissions from specialists in history, art history, sociology, environmental studies, and popular culture.

In addition, the FCEA welcomes all submissions in English language, literature, and pedagogy
and in allied studies.
 

Graduate students are invited to make submissions.  

By September 19, 2008, 
submit a 100-200-word abstract, including your presentation title, your name, your institution, your e-mail address, and your mailing address to

Select papers in Florida studies will be published in the fourth annual
Florida Studies Proceedings of the FCEA.

FCEA Glassman-O’Sullivan Florida Studies Award

The Florida College English Association announces a prize for the best paper on Florida Studies by a rising scholar. This $500 prize, established by Florida scholars Steve Glassman and Socky O’Sullivan, will go to the essay judged best among those submitted for consideration to the 2008 edition of Florida Studies: Proceedings of the FCEA Annual Conference. The Glassman-O’Sullivan Prize, intended to nurture scholarship about Florida literature and related fields, will be awarded to an essay submitted by an FCEA member- scholar of the Assistant Professor rank or below, including adjuncts and graduate students. Details concerning submissions for the prize will be included in the 2007 conference program; only revised versions of papers presented at the conference and submitted for publication in Florida Studies will be considered.
