CONFERENCE THEME: VISIONS AND VOICES OF THE 21st CENTURY

Friends, lovers, and most importantly, teachers of language and literature in Florida's college classrooms have witnessed, in recent years, that " things [have indeed begun to] fall apart." Fortunately, however, as we endure the final days of the 20th Century, we need not go "slouching towards" an apocalyptic end to our collective life's work. Rather, we must re-awaken our sleeping passion about literature and writing, and restore our altruistic visions for the future of teaching college English. Most of all, we must open our minds and hearts to the challenging messages and powerful voices that will create diverse and insightful learning communities. Such communities, no longer separated by technological, economic, or geographic boundaries, will likely consist of
talented teachers, students, writers, and storytellers, who will not only remember the past but will also reach toward the future, once again, revealing the greatness of our profession. The 2000 FCEA Conference will mark the beginning of this revelation. Attend this conference, and you will become a part of its history.Possible Presentation Topics:
