Organizational Update
The "revised" ballots mailed following the 2000 annual conference have been counted, and the following people have been elected to serve on the FCEA Executive Board for 2000-2001:
Vice President: Dr. Maurice OSullivan, Rollins College
Treasurer: Dr. Jerome Donnelly, University of Central Florida
Executive Board Member: Dr. Kevin McCarthy, University of Florida
The collective years of experience represented by this group will certainly benefit the organization, and we welcome them to our leadership team.

New Appointment
FCEA Secretary, Susan Hubbard, has recently announced her resignation from the position effective July 1, 2000. While she has "enjoyed working with the organization" since 1997, she has accepted a new appointment as Board Liaison for the Associated Writing Programs 2001 national conference in Palm Springs, CA. Many thanks for years of service and best wishes to Susan on behalf of the FCEA.
Adenike Marie Davidson has been appointed as FCEAs new secretary effective July 1, 2000. An assistant professor of English at the University of Central Florida, where she teaches American, African-American, and Womens literature, Adenike received her Ph.D. from University of Maryland, College Park and an M.A. in Afro-American Studies from U.C.L.A. Distinguished Colleague
At the recent conference in Altamonte Springs, FCEAs past president, Susan Miller, announced the creation of a new " Award." This award will be given for "significant and sustained contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service." All active FCEA members are eligible for this award.
Candidates need not demonstrate equivalent contributions in all three areas; selection will be based on overall accomplishments. Nominations will be accepted until September 1, 2000, and submission requirements include a letter of nomination, a list of three references, and a curriculum vitae.
