2006 Conference

Steve Brahlek

Florida Southern (Lakeland) and Tallahassee are possible sites. Further investigation is needed. Past experience is that the Conference Chair must be local to the town that is hosting or too many things go wrong. Jones will contact Florida Southern and inquire.

2007 Conference

Steve Brahlek

Miami is a possible site. There is increased participation from South Florida, so the time is right to go to Miami, which will make the conference available to many faculty and grad students who normally cannot attend.

2008 Conference

Steve Brahlek

Tallahassee could be a good site if they do not host 2006.

College English Journal

Rich McKee

Rich said that the $500 from October FCEA contribution, $200 from “other funds,” and some anticipated money from Ringling should keep the journal solvent for the near future.

Membership Drive

Steve Brahlek

Wall reported full list of valid members exists in multiple formats.

Wall is presently creating college contact information, which will also be in multiple formats. He anticipates that this list will be in useful shape no later than the first week of March.

Once the lists are complete, frequent emailings will increase awareness and (we hope) participation.

English Graduate Student Society

Steve Brahlek

Erica Cirillo at FAU is interested in allying with FCEA in some way.

The EGSS has some funding that might possibly come to FCEA as a mentoring organization. FCEA could also assist minorities getting professional experience.

Steve Brahlek is attending their next meeting and will keep us informed
